ENG. JAMES N. MWANGI is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Kurrent Technologies Ltd. He is a Mechanical Engineer whose experience in the energy sector including oil and gas industry spans over 26 years working in Kenya and overseas. His experience includes the development of petroleum infrastructure projects, including major projects in Africa and Asia, Health Safety and Environmental studies and audits, risk assessment studies, feasibility studies, power generation projects, technical due diligence, technical audits/reviews, valuation of petroleum facilities among other skills.
He is a Registered Consulting Engineer, with the Engineers Board of Kenya, Corporate Member of the Institute of Engineers of Kenya, Chairman of the Energy Sector Board at the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Director of the Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA), Vice Chairman and member of Executive Committee of GAMA (Group of African Member Associations) comprising of Associations of Consulting Engineers of Afri-can countries. , a Member of the Energy Institute (U.K.), Member of the Kenya Insti-tute of Management, and a Member of the Professional Trainers Association of Kenya (PTAK).
He is a Registered Lead Expert with the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) as well.
Eng. Mwangi sits on a number of Government and Industry Technical Committees and subscribes to several local and international professional associations. He has also been a resource person at the School of Petroleum studies (part of PIEA).
Eng. Mwangi has overseen the rapid expansion of Kurrent Technologies Ltd. since its inception in 2001.
SANJAY GANDHI is the Chief Operating Officer of Kurrent Technologies Ltd. He is a Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineer and has practiced in the oil and gas industry since 1990. He is a Graduate of University College London (University of London) where he attained a BSc (Eng) Hons. Degree in Civil including Structural and Environmental Engineering.
In the last 26 years he has gained broad experience in leading and managing ESIA and EA Studies for major Energy Sector projects.
He is the author of Kenya’s National Oil Spill Response Contingency Plan (NOSRCP) and Highway Emergency Response Plan (HERP), and founder of the Oil Spill Mutual Aid Group (OSMAG) in Kenya.
Mr Gandhi is a registered Lead Expert with the NEMA in Kenya and a member of several local and international environmental and safety professional bodies. He is a registered Safety and Health Advisor licensed by the DOSHS under the Ministry of Labor.
He is a Certified Licensed Instructor with the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) for the HSE Rig Pass Program.
Mr. Gandhi is the Chairman of the Kenya Occupational Safety and Health Association (KOSHA). Additionally Mr. Gandhi sits on a number of Government committees in Kenya related to the petroleum sub-sector to advance the use of best available practices and technologies in the HSE field.
Mr. Gandhi is the licensed Contract Instructor in Africa and Western Asia for TapRooT®, a root cause analysis system developed in the USA and has deployed the system for several multinational mining, oil & gas and construction companies in Africa, Asia, Europe and the USA.
