The IFC, Proparco and FMO are co-financing the development of ten Small Hydro Power ProjectS (SHP) in five counties in Kenya. As the project is being partially financed by the above Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), the assignment involves monitoring the E&S requirements of the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) developed by the lenders and checking the compliance of KTDA Power Company with respect to the safeguards of the lenders which includes the E&S Performance Standards developed by the IFC (part of the World Bank Group).
KTL successfully completed a full ESIA study for 100 MW wind power Plant and Transmission line in Kajiado Kenya. The ESIA Study was undertaken in accordance with the IFC’s Environmental and Social Performance Standards and included the following specialized studies: Bat and Bird study, Visual Impact Assessment, Ecological Study, Nosie study and Social Impact Assessment.
KTL was contracted by a Multinational Oil Exploration company to undertake an Environmental Project Report (EPR) Study (Scoping Study) for the Workers’ Field Accommodation and Extended Well Testing (EWT) in Turkana, Kenya.
The EPRs were undertaken in accordance with the EBRD, Kenyan environmental regulations and IFC's Environmental and Social Performance Standards.
The project scope involved construction of a new service station with modern polycarbonate roofed canopy, convenience shop, administration office block, Wash bay, service bay, tyre garage, compressor/generator room, lubes store, LPG storage, water storage and landscaping.
Project activities undertaken by KTL included Topo-surveys, ESIA studies, tender documentation and analysis, obtaining Building approvals, Preliminary and Detailed designs and construction supervision.
KTL was identified by a Multinational Oil Exploration company to be providing Environmental and Social services for its Oil Exploration and Production facilities in Kenya.
The Activies includes undertaking Environmental and Social Audits in accordance with IFC standards for the Exploration well sites, Production well sites, seismic activities and workers accommodation
KTL successfully completed a comprehensive stakeholder’s consultations from Mombasa to Nairobi for the proposed expressway with 9 special economic zones (ASZ) by the Govt of Kenya.
We were awarded the subcontract by a multinational environmental consultant based on our experience in IFC’s Environmental and Social (E&S) Performance Standards. The activities included organizing high level meetings with 9 governors and regional county commissioners, more 20 public meetings, Key Informant Interviews (KII) and Focus Group Discussions (FGD).
The LPG filling facility comprises of a carousel filling package for 6kg and 12 kg cylinders, fully packaged with weighing scales, Pumps with associated piping, valves and explosive proof electrical equipment. The package has infeed and outgoing conveyors and is capable of filling up to 80 cylinder per hour.KTL scope involved equipment specification, installation supervision, participated in test and commission of the cylinder filling facility.
The scope of work for the project included demolition of existing bitumen plant, procurement and Installation of 2 x 55 tons LPG tanks and cylinder filling facility complete with accessories, cylinder decanting facility, firefighting system, complete office block, truck and rail off-loading facilities, electrical installation, generator shed, fire equipment shed, data communication between electronic weighing and Office block with remote automated operation control system
KTL scope of works included Project management, Preliminary and detailed designs, cost estimates, Environmental Impact Assessment study, obtaining building approvals, bill of quantities, bill of materials, tender documentations, tender analysis and construction supervision.
