KTL performed Safety and Health (S&H) Audits for the solar company’s head office, warehouse and various shops located in Nairobi, Kajiado and Kiambu counties. The outcomes of the audit exercise enabled the Proponent to re-calibrate their management system in order to meet the requirements stipulated under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007.

For this assignment, KTL customized the audit to within the beverage manufacturer’s context and comprehensively appraised their management system in accordance with legislative requirements as well as integrated management systems. The audit outcomes enabled the Proponent to improve their safety performance at the Nairobi and Kisumu plants.

KTL is undertaking a review of Mid and downstream Petroleum regulations for purposes of operationalization of the enacted Petroleum Act 2019, the assignment was awarded to KTL by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining (MoPM) under Kenya Petroleum Technical Assistance Project (KEPTAP). KTL has completed reviews on existing Petroleum regulation and has also completed drafting of appropriate subsidiary regulations to enable operationalization of Petroleum Act 2019,During the assignment KTL engaged Key Petroleum industry stakeholders and has completed drafting Regulatory Impact Statements for revised draft regulations.
KTL in consultation with EPRA has scheduled for Stakeholders workshops in Nairobi Region, Coastal Region, Mount Kenya Region and Rift Valley region. This will give a chance for final inputs by stakeholders to be considered in the Final draft regulation for updates and forwarding of the final draft regulations to the Ministry and the Cabinet Secretary.

The IFC, Proparco and FMO are co-financing the development of ten Small Hydro Power ProjectS (SHP) in five counties in Kenya. As the project is being partially financed by the above Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), the assignment involves monitoring the E&S requirements of the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) developed by the lenders and checking the compliance of KTDA Power Company with respect to the safeguards of the lenders which includes the E&S Performance Standards developed by the IFC (part of the World Bank Group).

KTL was awarded a contract to undertake the Environmental Impact assessment study for the proposed project in accordance with EMCA and IFC’s Environmental and Social Performance Standards.
The proposed Project comprises of a 140m long weir, 4.6km water tunnel Valve Chamber, 1.9m Twin steel Penstocks, 2 Power Houses (20 mw each), Power Switch yard; High Power Transmission line (Approximately 7km to Kibirigwi, Kirinyaga County).
The assignment is on-gong and include Aquatic and terrestrial ecological studies, hydrological and geological studies, Social Impact Assessment and development of stakeholder engagement plan.
